Go to know how little we are – A share of Trinh Thi Quyen – A student of special academic program

Being young, if it is not a shower, it is a long trip. Going to fill up the difficulties and stumbles, going to retain the full memory of the most beautiful age in human life

On that day, we, you and the “brilliant youth” have walked through many roads together, lost in many distant cities … So later on, we will sit together again, tell each other about our memories about strange land, to see “we” do not owe youth for long trips.

Trinh Thi Quyen and her friends from the MT program set off for paid internships in Japan

At high school, I had chance to experience in the northern mountainous provinces, and then at University I enrolled  the special academic program of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry where I both study specialized knowledge of environmental science and be arranged to go abroad to take paid internship. Last February, after a period of studying and training at my university, I had the first flight of my life to the country of the rising sun and was arranged to work at Vegetable and Fruit Packaging Company. in Aichi, Japan.

The first days of working at my company, I was instructed about the 5s standard workflow: Screening (removing unnecessary things), Sorting (items in the right place), Clean (kind remove clutter and dirt), Care (work with standards), Ready (track and improve). Besides, there are strict regulations on food hygiene and safety, environmental sanitation and waste classification.

After finishing a profesional training course, I was asigned to work in the fruit team applying the high-tech production line, the main job was to pack and stamp on the finished trays. . The work is very leisurely, but requires high dexterity and agility of hands. Normally we work 8 hours / day, from Monday to Friday. When we have many jobs, we will overtime on Saturday and Sunday. On average, after 1 month of hard work, we will receive about 30 – 32 million VND, with that salary I divided into 3 parts, one part to pay for daily activities, another part to send home to help my parents and the rest is for savings as a startup capital for the future.

During the time of working, I was  communicated with a lot of old Japanese. I asked the Obaasan (grandmother) if I had problems I didn’t know. In order to  communicate with people I speak Japanese all time therefore my Japanese improved a lot and I feel much more confident to talk Japanese to anyone

When I came here to practice, besides paying attention to learning related to expertise such as how to handle environmental issues, waste in the production process of the company, I found myself trained and matured a lot. . I have learned the techniques, professional working style of Japanese companies, and know how to handle and solve problems. Especially, when I was working in a developed country like Japan, I found my vision and my thinking changed a lot. It is true that “go one day, learn a wisdom”. I plan that after returning home, I will practice in a few more countries such as: Denmark, Germany, Israel or Taiwan according to the arrangement of the teachers in the Special University Program. I believe that acquiring knowledge in class along with practical experience abroad will help me have a solid career in the future.

Finally, I would like to thank the teachers of Thai Nguyen High School for mentoring me for 3 years in school. More specifically, I would like to thank the teachers and staff in ITC – Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry for letting me know about the special university program, thank you for the The oppotunity that the teachers have prepared for us to give us more confidence during our 1 year experience in Japan.
