America – Where My Dream Comes True

After interview stage and record-preparing stage to apply visa, students taking part in the USA internship program of International Training and Development Center – ITC (Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry) have their very first feelings and sharings about their work and daily life in the USA. Below is the sharing of Mr. Vu Dam Hung–student of Intake 39 – Landscape, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF)

Hello everyone, my name is VuDam Hung, an alumnus of Intake 39 – Landscape , Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry. I’m interning in the Golf Course program. Currently, I’m learning and working at Canonsburg, Pennsylvania state, USA.

After 25 flight hours around half of the globe, I have arrived to the US where I want to explore and discover new things. My group has 11 people who are all anxious to discover this country. When landed in Charllot airport, we and my friends from Ukraine, Phillipne, Thailand had been welcomed by USA partners of TUAF in a warm and enthusiastic way. In the first days, they introduced us about culture, living and working condition in this new environment. We had a dinner (cooking traditional and famous dishes of Vietnam) with local families here.

Today, after 2 weeks upon arrival to the US, I will share with you my first feeling and experience in this beautiful and developed country in the world.

2

I like the atmosphere here, very fresh and the roads are always clean, too.  The local residents are very open and friendly. When they met you, they always smile and wave their hands to greet you although they don’t know who you are. What I especially like of the residents here is their very good self-consciouness. They always respect and protect the nature, follow the traffic law, usually give way to the pedestrian. You will not encounter the intentional littering, or pushing over, or crossing the line, sudden turning in front of you, appearing from the valley without former observation.

However, being apart from my family from half of the blode, with the 11 hours difference in time zone, I really miss my family and friends. I remember the attaching feeling when I farewelled my family in the airport. Everyone cared and wished us being well, luck and successful learning and working. In the far distance, our family and relatives all miss us. Thinking about our family gives us motivation to move on.

If you already have a automobile license and experience, you will be preferred here. The USA partners of TUAF will help you, and assist you in learning the rules and in license test with only 4$ (surprise, hah?) for each automobile license test. Mr. Nguyen Le Duy (instructor at TUAF) was the first one to get his car license when he just came here in one week. When you have car license, the internship host will assist you with car for transportation.

After one week in Charlotte, I with 3 Vietnamese friends and 3 Mexican went to the internship place in Canonsburg, Pensylvania. We live in the sufficient and comfortable condo. In here, we met 3 good and friendly Filipinos. They took us to go shopping and eating buffet at a Chinese restaurant.

4

We also invite them to have dinner with traditional Vietnam dishes (In here we always miss Vietnamese dishes so only in the special days we cook these dishes for friends)

When interning and working, the host and our colleagues guided and instructed us enthusiastically. They helped us overcome the initial unfamiliarity and get used to the work and living in here.

Finally, I want to thank sincerely to the whole family, relatives, and people in ITC- TUAF for facilitating and helping me fulfill my dream. Thank you for reading my very first thoughts and feelings after 2 weeks in America. I wish you all achieve your dream and your goals.
